Deep Cycle

In contrast to the quick surge of power that is required for starting, deep cycle service means that the battery bank is called upon to deliver smaller amounts of current over longer periods of hours or days, rather than seconds. They  are used for auxiliary loads such as house power, trolling motors, auxiliary equipment, communications, electric vehicles, scrubbers/sweepers, golf cars etc. Of course, Federal's deep cycle series can deliver plenty of starting power, but they are specially designed and built to withstand the special rigours of long, deep discharges and long, slow recharges, an environment which can literally tear ordinary batteries apart from the inside.

Gel-Tech Series

FEDERAL introduces a battery second to none for the most demanding applications. Our premium gelled electolyte batteries provide reliable starting amps for Marine and Commercial applications whilst being used primarily as a dependable maintenance free power supply for float and deep cycle service. Gel-Tech batteries minimise the effects of severe vibration, are spill proof and leak proof and provide quick recharge recovery.

Solar Battery Series

Flooded Cell

Flooded Cell batteries come in a complete line of 6 and 12 volt sizes. Their new super-insulating, micro-porous, polyethylene envelope separators protect the plates and eliminate short circuits, dramatically extending the life of the battery.

Gel Technology

The Solar Series of valve regulated, gelled electrolyte batteries is designed to offer reliable, maintenance free power for renewable energy applications where frequent deep cycles are required and minimum maintenance desirable. They are lead acid storage batteries using sulphuric acid to replace oxygen and hydrogen normally lost in a flooded cell battery.

Maintenance-Free Starting Series

Petrol and diesel engines require a high amperage or starting current from the battery in order to 'crank the engine' up to a starting RPM. This high starting current must be delivered quickly and for as long as thirty seconds at a time, month after month, otherwise the engine cranks too slowly and may not start at all. The Federal Starting Series of batteries, with their state of the art engineering and manufacturing techniques, gives maximum cranking power and long maintenance-free life, proving that, when it comes to batteries, if you buy Federal, you really get what you pay for.

In Automotive- Up to 1000cca of raw power

In Marine- Up to 875cca

Commercial Series & Special Sizes

Commercial service places particularly harsh demands on batteries. Typical batteries are wired together in banks of two or more and are required to start one or more diesel engines and meet extensive auxiliary power requirements. They are then expected to withstand pounding vibration and harsh temperature extremes. Federal has an extensive line of maintenance-free, low maintenance and hard-to-find types, specially constructed to meet these demanding applications.

Federal Hot Climate Series

Some vehicles are subjected to abusive conditions, causing shortened battery life. This kind of "severe service" requires a battery specially designed to withstand the highest underhood temperatures.

Severe underhood temperatures can dramatically shorten battery life by more than 50%. Ordinary batteries suffer water loss, grid corrosion, plate growth, separator failure and internal short circuits under the pressures of high heat and high vibration applications. Internally these batteries tear themselves apart.

Federal Has found a way to Beat the Heat!

The Federal Hot Climate Series is specially designed to resist these life-threatening severe service problems and still provide plenty of power for easy starting.
